Jesus Washed Judas' Feet!?
It was during this time that Jesus set an example of being a servant by washing the disciples' feet. Today, churches and Christian groups have foot-washing ceremonies, a real emotional and touching time where everyone displays their servant-hearts. Please, I understand the concept, but often those ceremonies are no more than a show. When someone in the church has a real need, where are we? When I have tickets to the football game, and my "brother in the Lord " calls asking me to help clean-up after his septic system backed up, flooding his basement, how will I respond? And what if it's that guy in church that I just don't get along with, and has never seemed to back me up when I needed help?
That's the kind of servant Jesus meant when he exampled it for his disciples. According to that standard, am I really "servant-hearted"? Remember, Jesus washed even Judas' feet.
